What I Should Do To Prepare for breast augmentation plastic surgery?

The surgeon, would recommend a baseline mammogram before the surgery and another mammography examination, after the surgery, this will help to detect any future changes in your breast tissue. Considering that you have done breast augmentation, you will also be able to perform breast self-examination.

If you smoke, you will be asked to stop smoking well in advance of the surgery. If you are taking aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs , this can cause increased bleeding,and you should avoid taking these medications for a period of time before surgery. The surgeon will provide you with additional pre-operative instructions.

Breast augmentation, is usually done as an out-patient basis,which means you do not need to stay at the hospital and if this is a case be sure that you arrange for someone to drive you home after the surgery.

On The Day Of The Surgery What will the day be like?

Our team will administer, for your comfort medications before the surgical procedure. Frequently, local anaesthesia, and also intravenous sedation are used for patients who are undergoing breast augmentation, although general anaesthesia is desirable in some instances.

After the surgery is completed, you will be taken to a recovery room where you will continue to be closely monitored, and your breasts will be wrapped in gauze dressings or a surgical bra. After the surgery is completed, the doctor will send you home after few hours, or the surgeon would determined that you will stay in the hospital or the surgical facility overnight accordingly.

After the breast Implant,How will my breasts look and feel ?

You should be up and about, after a day or two of surgery. The dressings, will be removed within several days, and the doctor will advise you to wear a support bra. The plastic surgeon will probably permit you to have a shower, between 3-7days following surgery. The stitches will be removed in about a week. After the breast implant, there would be some discolouration and swelling, which will occur initially, but this would disappear quickly, which is normal. Most residual swelling will resolve within a month.

What to expect during the recovery?

Before the discharge, the caregiver, will be given detailed instructions about your post-surgical care including drains if they have been placed. You would experience normal symptoms or potential signs of complication.

The options for your recovery after undergoing breast augmentation include:

Recovery Facility: The patient would be taken care of by the post-surgical recovery unit, where the nursing aid, or specially trained medical professionals, will monitor the health of the patient and that you are comfortable, and stable, till you are able to return home and are capable of taking care of yourself.

The facility, with professional trained nurses, will take care of you and monitor your health and comfort until you are able to return home and capable of looking after yourself. You should be able to walk normally on your own, after your breast augmentation surgery. It is important that you walk a few minutes every few hours to reduce the risk of blood clots forming in your legs.

You will feel sore for the first 2-5days, in the chest region. If there are any dressings, will be removed within several days, and you may be instructed to wear a support bra. Your breast may feel tight, and sensitive to the touch, and the skin, would feel warm or itchy. You may also feel difficulty in raising your arms,and you should not lift,push or pull anything, or engage in any strenuous activity, or twisting of upper body. There is some discolouration and swelling will occur initially, but will disappear quickly. The swelling will resolve in a month.

When can I expect to resume my normal activities after my breast augmentation?

It would take a few days, to return to normal activities, after breast augmentation,and it is also important that you get up and move around. If you are a working person, then after a week or so you can resume your duties. You should not strain yourself too much for at least a month.
